Portchain is hiring a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join a new team focused on building a cutting-edge SaaS platform for the shipping industry. The container shipping industry is vital to global trade, handling 90% of all goods transported by container. Yet, it struggles with inefficiencies. 50% of container vessels are delayed at ports, and essential planning processes often rely on manual methods like basic tools and spreadsheets. Portchain is transforming this space with cloud-based solutions tailored for the shipping industry. Their innovative products optimize berth and schedule operations for carriers and terminals by leveraging predictive analytics, real-time updates, and data sharing. This technology enhances berth alignment, improves collaboration, and promotes sustainability by enabling Just-In-Time (JIT) arrivals, reducing fuel consumption, and cutting carbon emissions. In the last 12 months alone, Portchain's solutions have prevented over 194,000 tons of CO2 emissions! With a global reach, Portchain has already onboarded a significant portion of the world’s container terminals and secured more than $10M in funding.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Portchain, you will drive technical development and innovation by contributing to both front-end and back-end features of Portchain’s platform. Your primary responsibility will be building and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications and ensuring new features are implemented effectively and efficiently. You will also be:

• Leading the implementation of end-to-end features from specifications to ensure a seamless user experience
• Collaborating with the team to resolve architectural challenges and ensure optimal solutions
• Ensuring the quality and responsiveness of applications
• Maintaining clean code and helping to establish best practices

• Minimum of five years of professional experience in Software Engineering
• Proficiency in technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL
• Strong analytical skills with a talent for solving complex problems and delivering innovative solutions
• Experience in creating and maintaining automated tests
• Proficient in applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to enhance team collaboration
• Deep understanding of balancing immediate feature delivery with long-term technical debt management

Experience that would be beneficial but not required:

• Experience building B2B and consumer-quality products, particularly in start-up or scale-up environments
• In-depth knowledge of network and application security
• Architectural experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
