Look, you probably already know that there are not many bigger problems out there than the climate, but did you know that more than 40% of global emissions, or really any ESG issue, are directly or indirectly impacted by procurement? That’s because companies have an incredible amount of power (‘purchasing power’) when selecting and managing suppliers, so if we can put sustainability on every supplier scorecard out there, we really can change the world. But it’s hard! A company will have anywhere from 100 - 100,000 suppliers and analyzing each of their sustainability efforts is an impossible task, and most ESG ratings suck. That’s what we’re trying to change. Responsibly's ai-powered due diligence engine automates the due diligence on every supplier across every single esg data point on your suppliers (from risk and violations to positive actions), and turns that into insights to ultimately help companies build more sustainable supply chains. Pretty cool right? (yes, this dorky description was indeed written by an overly excited founder…)

Build next gen products using next gen technologies 🌟
We’re growing our Fullstack engineering team to craft the next-generation sustainability due diligence platform.
As a Fullstack Engineer at Responsibly, you’ll work across the stack - building modern product experiences in Next.js while also designing the backend systems and infrastructure that power them.
Our platform:
- Ingests and processes large volumes of supplier data and documents
- Extracts structured insights from unstructured sources using AI
- Handles millions of data points across global supply chains
- Continuously re-processes and enriches data as new information appears
This means solving real scalability challenges:
- Designing backend services that can grow with enterprise customers
- Building efficient data ingestion and processing pipelines
- Ensuring performance, reliability, and observability in production
- Optimizing database performance and query patterns
- Structuring systems that can handle increasing complexity over time
You’ll work with modern tools like:
- TypeScript
- Next.js (server actions, server components, API routes)
- PostgreSQL
- AWS & serverless architectures
- AI / LLM integrations
We don’t just use AI in our product - we expect our engineering team to stay ahead of the curve. You’ll be encouraged (and expected) to experiment with new technologies and continuously improve how we build.
What you’ll be doing 🙌
- Taking operational responsibility for the code you write throughout the entire software development lifecycle
- Building and maintaining production systems used by enterprise customers
- Designing backend APIs and services that are scalable and maintainable
- Working on data-heavy features involving ingestion, transformation, and enrichment
- Integrating AI/LLM workflows into real production systems
- Designing efficient PostgreSQL schemas and optimizing queries
- Collaborating closely with your team on new features — from concept to deployment
- Helping evolve our infrastructure to stay ahead of our growth curve
- Improving performance, reliability, and overall system robustness
You’ll ship features and help shape the architecture behind them.
Requirements
About you 😎
Where you lack experience, you make up for it with passion, talent, and dedication. If you’re early in your career but can demonstrate strong ability - we’re open.
Generally, you:
- Have solid experience with TypeScript
- Are comfortable working in modern frameworks like Next.js
- Enjoy backend-heavy work and thinking about scalability
- Have experience designing REST APIs and production-ready backend systems
- Understand relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and how to model data effectively
- Are comfortable with AWS or similar cloud providers
- Have experience with - or curiosity about - serverless architectures
- Are interested in working with AI tools and LLMs beyond just calling an API
- Value writing clean, testable, maintainable code
You’re a builder. You care about shipping product — but you also care about how the system behaves under load.
