Anchored in Copenhagen and boasting an eco-conscious production facility in Portugal, their mission extends beyond crafting exemplary garments; they’re pioneering the zero-waste, made-to-order movement that's set to disrupt traditional clothing manufacturing practices. As a certified B Corporation, their operations are rigorously aligned with the highest standards of social and environmental impact, ensuring that every piece they create contributes to a greener planet. Serving customers across 146 countries, their dedication to minimizing waste and carbon emissions is unwavering. With their eyes set on a future where fashion harmonizes with the environment, they're experiencing significant growth and are in search of a Python Developer who shares their vision for a sustainable, waste-free fashion industry to enhance our technology team.

Your new role

The market is expanding globally, and we seek a Senior Python (Django) Developer to bolster the team amidst rapid growth. In this crucial role, you will spearhead the transformation of our technology infrastructure, significantly improving customer experience and streamlining production processes. Collaborating with a compact engineering team, including both frontend and backend developers, and coordinating with external partners, your work will be instrumental in realizing the forward-looking goals. Given the lean size of the development team, your ability to deliver results independently will be key.

Your new responsibilities and tasks

As a key member of the engineering team at Son of a Tailor, you will play a vital role in enhancing the entire customer journey and production lifecycle, from initial website visits to order delivery. Your efforts will be concentrated on three primary objectives:

  • Customer Experience: Enhancing the customer journey to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Operational Excellence: Boosting the efficiency of our operations for optimal performance.
  • Platform Scalability: Expanding the capabilities of our platform to support future growth.

You will collaborate closely with the product team—including designers, frontend and backend developers—and external stakeholders like manufacturing and shipping partners, to drive the company's vision forward.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing backend development and integration with shipping partners and payment processors in tandem with our engineering team.
  • Crafting high-quality, technically advanced software.
  • Transforming user behaviors and business requirements into functional programming.
  • Participating in all phases of product development, from ideation to testing.
  • Applying machine learning techniques using TensorFlow to derive insights and improve processes.
  • Analyzing production data to inform strategic decisions.

You'll need a startup mindset—pragmatic, flexible, and committed to quality, evidenced by rigorous testing protocols, including unit and end-to-end tests, aiming for at least 70% code coverage to maintain high code quality.

Your initial project will involve developing and launching a proprietary logistics system, aimed at delivering products to customers within a week of ordering.

What you need to succeed

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Python development, with a strong preference for expertise in Django.
  • A strong motivation to develop high-quality software, emphasizing robust architecture.
  • Comprehensive understanding of concurrency and scalability issues and solutions.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, with a particular interest in candidates familiar with Google Cloud.
  • Experience in machine learning is highly regarded and considered a plus.
  • The ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is essential for success in this role, ensuring clear and productive collaborations.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
